PHYSICAL - to provide for shelter, health, & safety.

Housing – Villa Majella Maternity Home provides a safe and nurturing living environment in a residential group home that can accommodate seven women through their pregnancy and until eight weeks after delivery. Afterwards, we can also recommend residents to other transitional mother & child living facilities.

Prenatal Care – We provide childbirth classes, arrange birth coaches, and coordinate obstetric care to prepare women for a positive and optimally healthy labor experience.  Our auxiliary and volunteers celebrate with each expectant mother by providing her with a personal baby shower one month before her delivery date.

Independent Living – We assist women in the process of achieving independence by expecting them to make a responsible contribution toward their subsistence. Women living in our home are required to work, volunteer, or attend school for a minimum of 16 hours per week until their eighth month of pregnancy. In addition, daily chores are assigned toward the upkeep of the home. Women buy the majority of their own groceries and prepare their own meals. Women can receive needed assistance through the Food Bank of SB and WIC Food Stamps.

Material Assistance – We can furnish food, toiletries, maternity clothing, and baby items as needed. We can also refer eligible women to government assistance programs.

Case management - We help women obtain medical, financial, and legal services. We refer women to community resources that can assist them with childcare, transportation, employment , and education.  We network with agencies to provide drug and alcohold recovery so that new mothers can remain drug-free.

Recovery – To ensure optimal benefit from our program,we require 30 days of drug and alcohol sobriety before acceptance into our program. We direct women afterwards to continue their individual recovery programs. Smoking is prohibited within 20-feet of our home as we also encourage smoking cessation for the physical welfare of mother and baby.
