Housing

Villa Majella Maternity Home provides a safe, nurturing living environment, in a residential group home, that can accommodate five women through their pregnancy and 3-6 months after delivery.  Depending on need, residents may extend their stay for up to 1 year, while they prepare for their transition into a life of increasing independence and responsibility.  This phase may include work, schooling, obtaining a vehicle and finding suitable housing.

We Currently have 4 beds available in our program, as of May 1, 2017. If you or someone you know is pregnant and in need of housing please call or have them call our program office at 805-964-1650. Monday- Thursday from 9am to 4pm. Thank you

Prenatal Care

We provide childbirth classes, arrange birth coaches, and coordinate obstetric care to prepare women for a positive and optimally healthy labor experience.

Independent Living

We assist women in the process of achieving independence. In return, residents must make responsible contributions toward their support. The residents buy the majority of their own groceries and prepare their own meals.  Women living in our home are required to participate in an outpatient drug program, if needed, work, volunteer or attend school for a minimum of 30 hours per week throughout their stay. In addition, daily chores are assigned.

Material Assistance

We furnish food, toiletries, maternity clothing, and baby items for those without resources.  We also refer eligible women to government and non-government assistance programs such as the  Food Bank of SB and WIC (The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children).

Case Management

Each resident develops an individual plan of action with our Case Manager. We refer women to community resources that can assist them with medical care, finance, legal help, employment, education,  childcare, transportation and housing.

Recovery

To ensure optimal benefit from our program, we require a minimum of 30 days abstinence from alcohol and other drugs,  before acceptance into our maternity home. Once in our program,  the women, who would benefit, are enrolled in Project Recovery, a program to assist them with their substance abuse issues. Villa Majella is a "smoke free" campus and smoking is prohibited within 90 feet of our home. We also encourage smoking cessation for the physical welfare of mother and baby.
